Haunted House

I love it when Simon goes to birthday parties at this time of year as it gives me an opportunity to make spooky cards.  This card was influenced by Male Room Challenge 22 to use wood and the current CASology Cue Card.  I was going to put ghosts inside the window but I got the idea of just using the eyes from Meghan - one of the designer team members at CASology.

The main panel was stamped with the WMS Woodgrain in Antique Linen and then scored to give the appearance of wooden panels.  The sentiment was computer generated using the Cracked font, and cut with a Spellbinders Labels 2 die, trimmed down to resemble a tombstone and then overstamped with the WMS Crackle Mini stamp in Memento London Fog.  The spider was cut with the Cuttlebug Spooky Cut and Emboss set and is suspended from a section of cobweb trimmed from a cobweb border from EK Success.

I've used Waltzing Mouse stamps so I'm entering this in the Waltzing Mouse Fanatics Challenge 29

Wainscoted Sketch

When I first saw this Bedtime Story Sketch for this month's WMS Pyjama Party I was immediately reminded of Wainscoting, probably because the large rectangle reminded me of a window, so that is the direction in which the sketch inspired me.

I've used the WMS Vintage Christmas Backgrounder for the wallpaper, and various stamps from the WMS 'Twas the Night Before Christmas set (including this dinky little Santa) to decorate the Memorybox Grand Madison Window.

The Wainscoting was created using my Fiskars Trimmer as a guide and a bone folder.  I scored a line 1cm down from the top and then from this point to the bottom at 1 cm intervals.  I could have done more fancy scores but I thought this simple wainscoting had a more country cottage feel to it.

I'm not sure if I'll add a sentiment - perhaps on the inside.

Christmas Blues

Made this quick Christmas card for the WMS Pyjama Party tonight using the older WMS Christmas sets Vintage Christmas Backgrounder and Compliments of the Season 2.  I cut the sentiment with one of the WMS Opera Tag dies - Becca Feeken did this and I loved the effect.  Unfortunately my attempt at 3:00 in the morning is not very straight and I will redo it, but I wanted to participate in the Old Pyjamas Challenge at the WMS Pyjama Party.

Faux Embossed Snow

I haven't used this technique for years but when one of the challenges for this month's WMS Pyjama Party was Texturise it, I was reminded of it.  Basically you cut shapes from the same colour card stock and adhere them.  It's easier to line up the shapes and works when you want the same shape(s) repeated multiple times.  Here I've used the the beautiful new WMS SnowFlakes 1 and 2.

The sentiment, from WMS Alpine Christmas was heat embossed with Persian Sea Aurora Cosmic Shimmer embossing powder and mounted on a WMS Stitched Tag.

I'm actually entering this in Challenge 2 of the WMS Pyjama Party - Snow is Falling.

Opalescent Snow Flake

Thought I'd try enamelling the gorgeous WMS Snow Flake 3 to make some super simple but super elegant Christmas tags.  First I embossed the snow flakes with Cosmic Shimmer Embossing Powder and then several coats of UTEE.  Fortunately, the sun was shining today so I managed to get an outside pic.

I'm entering these in the Texturise It challenge over at this month's WMS Pyjama Party.

WMS Pyjama Party Old Pyjamas

Simon is going to a party next weekend where the theme is Koh-lanta which as I understand it is a French Survival-type television show.  I've made this card for his friend using the WMS My Island set, the WMS Ocean Bound Set and the WMS Woodgrain set, and lots of different Distress Inks.

I was going to enter this into this month's Waltzing Mouse Pyjama Party for the category of Old Pyjamas, except I misread the original post which said old Christmas sets - uhhh !!!  Never mind I have plenty of those so back to the drawing board !!!

Seeing Triple

Keep it Simple has the fun challenge of Three.  So I added 3 WMS Simple Sprigs to this Congratulations card I made for a friend.  Of course once I had added 3 sprigs I had to add 3 of the roses to each sprig in 3 different colours.   I only hope this card still qualifies for Simple.

I used the sketch from CAS Challenge #95, and added a Memory Box Tessatina strip to ground the sprigs and added the gorgeous Clearly Besotted Word Die Congrats for the sentiment.

As an afterthought, I added Royal Coat to each of the roses.  Disaster struck of course as is often the case when dealing with sticky things and afterthoughts, and the Royal Coat ran off one of the roses and was spreading across the lower part of the card.  I cleaned the resulting mess up as best I could but in the end I used a Sizzix Mini Butterfly to hide said mess.  This Royal Coat takes ages to dry.  You may notice some of the roses are still milky.  They should be perfectly clear by this afternoon though (I hope) !!!

Here's a side view so you can see the effect of the Royal Coat.  I added glitter to the butterfly while it was still wet and some crystals down the length of the body.  I only did this this morning so it's still very wet and hence milky - again should be clear by this afternoon.

Here's the whole card

Since I've used Waltzing Mouse Stamps and cut files, I'm also entering this card in WMS Fanatics Challenge #28 which is Anything Goes.

Splash of Pink

Just home from the Think Pink evening.  It was a great evening and my Pink Christmas bundle went for a really good price at auction, so I'm chuffed.  These are some of the other pink cards I made for general sale.

A Ray of Sunshine.  The sun was cut with a Spellbinders inverted circle.  The clouds were sit from Memory Box Marshmallow Cloud and clear embossed with the WMS Cabin Plaid Backgrounder.  The cloud stamp on the envelope is from My Stamp Box.  The sentiment was computer generated.

Pink Dandelion.  Firstly I created a bunch of alcohol inked backgrounds using Shell Pink, Salmon, Lemonade, Sandal and Pearl Ranger alcohol inks.  They looked amazing but I could't capture it in a photo - looked a little like a pink tortoise shell.   The Dandelions were cut using a Kesi'art set of dies.  I embossed them with a couple of coats of pink embossing powder.  They proved very difficult to adhere, but I managed with the aid of some Glossy Accents, some paper weights and a grass border punch.  The large butterfly die was a freebie as was the stamp on the envelope.

An Apple for the #1 Teacher.  This was based on 2 cards I made for Simon's therapists and teachers last July.  The tags were cut using the large WMS Stitched Tag and then dry embossed with a M-Bossabilities Numbers and Letters folder.  The # and 1 are from a PTI numbers set.  Teacher is a Clearly Besotted die and the apple stamp is also from the Clearly Besotted and cut with the matching die.  I coated the finished apple with Royal Coat Dimensional Magic.

There were a few other designs but I didn't get around to photographing them before I handed them in.
I am entering the first card in the Shopping Our Stash challenge 171 : Sunshine on a Cloudy Day.

I am entering all the cards in the current Make it Monday challenge to use die cuts and/or punches.

Thanks for stopping by - especially if you take the time to leave a comment,

Pink Christmas all Bundled Up

I wanted to bundle the Think Pink Christmas Cards somehow,  so I decorated a plain black gift bag, with some pink Christmas elements, added a gift tag and some pretty pink ribbon and voila.  Since I was making one gift tag I decided to make a set of 10 as well to add to the ensemble.

The tag was cut with the large WMS stitched tag, from light pink card.  I distressed the edges with Tattered Rose and Victorian Velvet DIs, added the reindeer cut from pink glitter card, stamped the WMS "To" and "From" (from WMS Ornate Ornaments set) in Memento London Fog.  I cut grommets from the Stitched tag set and added these to the tag.  I even used the holes from the middle of the grommets on the gift bag.  Finally I added an exquisite snowflake cut using WMS Snowflake 2.  My Waltzing Mouse Stamps order arrived yesterday JITNOT (that's Just in the Nick of Time in Darnellese).
