Cupcakes Anyone?

When I saw the Mojo Monday Sketch earlier in the week I knew what I wanted to do, I just had to wait until this evening to get some time on it.  I used the Verve Cupcakes stamp set for the split sentiment.  I used the WMS Crackle Background stamp embossed in gold for the icing on the top of the cake.

Here's the sketch for Mojo Monday #489 - it made me think pull tab element so that's what I went with.

I've used several dies to get the effect I wanted, so I'm entering in the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - to use more than 1 die or punch.  Here are the die (sets) I used

Marianne D. Cupcake (5 die set)
Crealies Stitched Square
PTI Shutterbug dies (for the pull out element)
MFT Vertical Greeting II (trimmed for the pull tab)

I'm also entering in the Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes with Dies Challenge for March

Beeline for London

A friend of ours is leaving Luxembourg to live closer to his daughters and grand-daughters in London.  He has long had the nickname Buzz so I knew I had to use the Verve What's the Buzz stamp set and matching die set.

I used an old map from an atlas as a background for the slider panel, using a stitched rectangle and the partial cutting technique to create the slider channel between Luxembourg and London.

There wasn't a lot of space to put a sentiment but this one from the WMS Cottage Home fitted perfectly underneath his new Beehive.

I'll enter this card in the Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes with Dies Challenge for March

Tattered Poppy

Sympathy cards are not my forté, but I felt the Simon Says Stamps Tattered Poppy die would be perfect to make a sympathy card for a dear friend of mine who just lost her father.  I bought this die to do some framed scrap book layouts of my own dear father who passed away last year (he was known as poppy to his 10 beloved grandchildren) so it seemed doubly appropriate.

I cut the petals from plain red card stock and used Black Soot Distress Ink to add a little depth.  I added a dew drop using glossy accents.  The stitched frames and sentiment are from WMS - I do love the elegant script used in the WMS Big Day Today set.

This lovely sketch for Challenge #211 at CAS(e) this Sketch also inspired my card.

The Challenge at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is For a Special Lady and as my friend Michaela is indeed a Special Lady I'll be entering my card there.

Challenge #334 at the Paper Players has the theme Cut it Out, and as I've used several dies here, I'll be entering over there.

Happy Little Stampers has just posted a new Anything Goes with Dies Challenge for March, so I'll be entering there as well.

A little birdie told me

I made a few of these enamelled birds last night and made them up into cards this morning.  Four of the Memorybox birds were stacked together for support and then the shape was embossed multiple times with a yellow embossing powder and cleat UTEE and If you look really carefully you can see the highlights of gold which were added during the process.  I'm thinking of adding some tiny eggs to that branch (Spellbinders Cherry Blossoms) and making some of the cards into Easter cards.  The Memorybox Small Circle Burst makes a simple but effective backdrop for the bird.

The theme at Make My Monday Challenge #40 is Birds so I'll be entering this card there.

Cuttlebug Mania has the theme It's a Zoo Out There so I'll be entering there as well.

Addicted to Stamps Challenge #231 has an Anything Goes theme this week (yippee)

and Seize the Birthday also has an Anything Goes Birthday theme this week, so I'll be entering there too.

Edited:
I forgot to mention the little bird on the envelope (which is also on the inside of the card).  I created my own stamp by die cutting a bird from funky foam.  With a little water, it will stick to an acrylic block and you can stamp a matching image.  A neat trick isn't it!!!

Thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to stop by - especially if you leave some feedback.  I hope you're enjoying some sunshine in your part of the world,
Kate
