My Cup of Tea

I bought the WMS Afternoon Tea set and matching die earlier this year with the idea of making something special for my dear friend Maggie who celebrated her 50th birthday in April - she is somewhat partial to a cup of tea.  I also probably had her in mind when I picked up this Garden Tea Party Stack from DCWV last year.

This card is also for her but unfortunately this time to give her comfort as she is now facing 3 months of chemo.  Her chances are excellent as it was diagnosed early, but the next few months will be tough for her.

I've used Seize the Sketch #27 as inspiration for the layout.  They're winding up today so I had better get a wriggle on or I will miss the link up on their last sketch.

Passport Merci

My husband suggested we make a card to thank out local pharmacist for going through the whole passport renewal process for our young son Simon.  I knew immediately I would use this Postage and Frame stamp and embossing folder set from Sizzix and Hero Arts as I think it resembles a passport page.  I also wanted to use this little fellow from WMS Half Pint Heroes additions.

Make it Monday has a challenge this week to use Tags and Toppers so that ultimately influenced the design for this card.  Additional travel stamps used on the tag were from Kaisercraft Pack Your Bags Collection.

.

This week Simon Says Stamp has an ANYTHING GOES !!! Wednesday Challenge so I'm heading over there to link up as well.

21st Bird-day Card

I made this card for a very special young woman in one of my son's life who turns 21 in a few weeks.  I saw this really great sketch over at the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club, which really tickled my fancy.

I also fell in love with the colours in ColourQ Challenge 255

Stamps and Dies used
MFT : Branch with Leaves die, Contempo Cage stamps and die
Memorybox : Tessatina die
Spellbinders : Cherry Blossom

Dragonfly Hello

A quick card for Muse Challenge 81 where this week's muse Marion Vagg has given us this ultra pretty butterfly card.

Here is how the mood has taken me.  I went searching in my stash to see if I could find a Chevron striped background that I had previously stamped when I found this piece of card which I had cut using WMS Art Deco cut files.

This dragonfly was a recent purchase from Clearly Besotted and I jumped at the chance of using it for the first time.  I cut a solid dragonfly from navy card and a lacy dragonfly from teal glitter card, layered them up and mounted it.  I filled the segments of the spine with Royal Coat Dimensional Magic to give it even more shine, and paired it with a Clearly Besotted Hello die cut.

I'm also entering this card in Addicted to CAS challenge 45

Twin Girls

A simple card for twin girls using the stork and 2 bundles cut using Little B Baby Elements set.  The Pennants were cut with Spellbinders Nested Pennants and overstamped with letters from an alphabet set I bought years ago and had forgotten I had.  The packaging wasn't intact so I can't tell you what brand it was but the size of the lowercase letters worked well with the banners.
The "string" and knots were stamped with the WMS Bitty Banners set and the frame and names of the twins were computer generated.

It looked a little bare when I had finished and my son James suggested adding some hearts.  I die cut these hearts using the Cuttlebug Small Paisley set - all my other hearts were too big.

A smattering of beads and voila !!!

Another Sunflower Birthday Card

I was inspired by Mojo Monday Sketch #357, which I flipped.

Seize the Birthday has a Seeing Yellow Topping so I'm entering it there too.

Ritzy Easel Card

I was asked to make a 40th birthday card for a friend's brother.  He's a party organizer so images and sentiments from the WMS Putting on the Ritz set and it's companion WMS Art Deco set were obvious choices.  I decided to make it a bit more special by going with an easel card.  The Spellbinders Nested Pennants were used to create the iconic Art Deco motif.  The 40 was die cut with the Sizzix Go Slim numbers die from white glitter card.  It seemed a shame to waste the negative pieces so I put them on the envelope.

I've used Mojo Monday 357 as inspiration for the design !

Jamaican Mum

My friend Bethia asked me to make a card for her mum's birthday.  She's Jamaican and she loves sunflowers.  When I was watching the Commonwealth games I was in awe of the Jamaican sprinters and the Jamaican colours were so eye catching.
I was wondering how I could represent the Jamaican flag when I was inspired by this week's Muse Vicki Dutcher to use the WMS Splat That set.  I used the Clearly Besotted Trellis die to represent the yellow cross.  I used this to frame the MFT sunflower.   The Mum was cut using my Cameo and the Baroque Antique font.
