A new challenge has just gone live and it's time to take some Time Out of your busy schedule and come play cards with us again. Challenge #240 is a theme challenge - the dictionary definition of sportive!
Here's what Google has to say about the word sportive!
spor·tive1
/ˈspôrdiv/
adjective
- 1.playful; lighthearted."Sir John was in sportive mood"
- 2.relating to, interested in, or good at sport."Britain's architectural and sportive heritage"
So you might want to go with the definition of 'playful and light-hearted' - whatever that means to you or stick with the more obvious definition and make up something to do with sports! If the connection to the theme isn't obvious please let us know how you were inspired - you may have thought of something that we all missed and we love to find out how our challenges inspire you!
If you're stuck for inspiration, pop over to the Time Out Challenge Blog and see what the rest of the design team has come up with and we're joined this challenge by the very talented Carol McFarland and her blog is well worth a visit!
Challenge #240 sponsored by Newton's Nook who have very generously donated a $25 Gift Certificate to be awarded to the winner as chosen by the design team.
I started heading in the general direction of sports related! I bought this set earlier in the year and it ended up not being needed for what I originally intended but I knew it would come in handy! My youngest son turns 19 next month! He had a similar pair of shoes a few years ago - he has to wear special shoes so something that resembled Converse All Stars was pretty cool as far as he was concerned!
I had considered "these boots are made for walking" as a sentiment but then the song All Star popped into my head so I spelt out the much simpler sentiment of "Hey Now" (using the very sportive MFT Varsity alphabet)! All Star is one of his favourite songs - used in two of his favourite movies (Shrek and Rat Race) so it seemed appropriate - plus he really is an all-star (always positive and never lets his cerebral palsy get him down)!
Getting the levels right was a bit of a challenge- because I used real cotton for the laces I needed to use foam tape to attach the top shoe to the bottom shoe and the bottom shoe to the card front. Here'e a side on picture so you can see the layers of foam tape. Luckily it doesn't need to go through the mail - they really are high tops now!
I added pops of yellow so I could enter Traumfabrik Challenge #116!
I'd also like to enter the following challenges
NBUS Challenge #51 - the sneaker set is NBUS;
Cardz4Gyz Challenge #323 - Lots of Layers - the top shoe was 3 layers plus it was added to the bottom shoe (2 layers) which was added to a panel which was added to the card base;
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you go away a little inspired! Your visits and comments are always a joy and always appreciated! And if you leave a comment, I’ll know you were here and how to find you!
