Read On

I'm preparing some kits for a workshop in May and this is one of the projects I'll be including in the kit - a Bookmark Card.

The Sweetpea Designs Read Between the Lines stamp set and the Brainy Bookmark Die set were no brainers for this design!  There is a tag in the die set but I used another die from Love 2 Craft because it has a stitched edge.

I made the pocket from a 6x6 sheet of designer paper - I have way too much of that!  Left over bits were used to trim the bookmark.

I stamped the text with brilliance Galaxy Gold and trimmed the bookmark with gold foil paper.  The READ and specs were cut from the same paper and I couldn't resist adding a little glossy accents for the lenses.

Imagine my surprise when I noticed a "Pocket" challenge at Double D Challenges

I also spotted a "Let it Be" challenge at The Little Red Wagon Challenge # 643 include projects that have something to do with the letter B.

Shopping Our Stash Challenge #465 has a Full Metal Jacket Theme and as I've used Gold Foil Paper, I'd like to enter there are well.

I'd also like to enter Papercraft Challenge #79 where Anything Goes!

Finally I'm entering the NBUS Challenge #36 as I've used a new tag die!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed your visit.  If you leave a comment, I’ll be thrilled!  I’ll also know you were here and check out what you’ve been up to so we can get better acquainted!

Fly by Night

I have been trying to kickstart my waning absent mojo and I thought the Let's Squash It Challenge might help!  Apart from using an embossing folder, the challenge is to use the colour green and include a bug.
I also set myself a challenge to use something I hadn't yet used and this stamp/embossing set has been waiting to be used for some time now.

The set is called Artistic Fern (Sizzix) - a stamp and embossing folder. It's a lovely stamp, but a little sparse for what I wanted and so I stamped it 5 times across the card in a landscape orientation. And embossed three of those. I also added ink to the embossing folder to create a little depth and distressed the background with shabby shutters and peeled paint after I was finished.

The bug is from Funky Insects (Tim Holtz). After dilly-dallying for over a day looking for some text and how to add it, I decided to go with spelling out the simple sentiment FLY. After I added the bug, it occurred to me that it must be a moth and as moths are nocturnal I'm calling this one FLY BY NIGHT!

I would also like to enter NBUS Challenge #35 - and to thank you Darnell and team for encouraging me to use my neglected purchases!

Gundi (Papierelle) has just told me about another challenge - Die Traumfabrik Challenge #101 - A Bug's Life, so my little moth will be flying over there as well!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed your visit.  If you leave a comment, I’ll be thrilled!  I’ll also know you were here and where to see what you’ve been up to so we may become better acquainted!

Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?

I "built" this snowman from scraps and from bits I've had in my stash for far too long!  I think he's been a little too long in the sun as he is decidedly disheveled and just a little pink!

It's been so hard to get motivated lately!  I've managed to make a few things but I've had no time to blog.  I finally reclaimed my craft space (which my son had started using during home schooling last year and then took over completely during the summer this year) and was able to vacate the living room and most importantly the dining room table in time for Christmas but it's meant moving furniture around (some of it quite heavy and to a different floor) as well as a big reorganisation and clean out (which barely scratched the surface needless to say)!

I really wanted to enter a few challenges that are still open over the Christmas period - especially Pixie's Snippets Playground Christmas Draw.  The sentiment on this card was from a set I won last year during Di's fabulous and very generous Christmas draw - Uniko Simply Said Blocks Christmas.

Allsorts Challenge #655 - Anything Winter Goes;
and Christmas Kickstart Challenge #57  - if it's Christmassy link it Up!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed your visit.  If you leave a comment, I’ll be thrilled!  I’ll also know you were here and where to see what you’ve been up to so we may become better acquainted!
