Deck Those Trees

I fell in love with this pretty sketch from Freshly Made Sketches sketch 161, and I knew it would be perfect to use up one of the extra backgrounds I created last month while Thinking of a Pink Christmas.  

Of course the main reason I fell in love with it was that it gave me the perfect excuse to use this new (for me) Plush Bow die from Memory Box.  I must admit it I was a little daunted when I first saw it - it's so tiny and needs to be assembled.  I managed it though and it is definitely worth it.

The background stamp is from Sizzix/Hero Arts called Birds 'n Trees.  I embossed it with a pink embossing powder before dry embossing it with its own matching embossing folder.

I cut the little bird from white card using the Memory Box Meadow Bird die.  I embossed him 3 times with pink embossing powder and then twice with UTEE.  I just love the marbled effect this creates.

The sentiment is from Waltzing Mouse Stamps Vintage Ornaments, which I also embossed in pink.

I've made up the elements for another 3 pink and 4 green cards using the same sketch, but I wanted to get this one finished and posted before the Linky closes for Freshly Made Sketches.  I'll edit the post once they're done to include the others (if I remember) !!!

ED. Here are the same cards in green.  The background and envelope were stamped in Bundled Sage Distress Ink.  It looks more olive here than in IRL.  I used Clearsnap Pistachio EP on the bird and the sentiment.

First Noel Cards

I finally inked up this new WMS 'Tis the Season set.   I love the boldly flourished sentiments, and this Noel sentiment fitted perfectly on this pretty Picot Panel (love that it's self matting). 

Inspiration for these cards came from Mojo Monday 370 - yet another brilliant sketch from Julee Tilman.  

As well as the WMS 'Tis the Season stamp set and the WMS Picot Panel, I've also used a Sizzix Framelits Banner and a glossily accented sprig of holly from the Tim Holtz Holiday Lamp Post die.  I've used some Raspberry Road Christmas Collection papers which were a freebie from the Quick Cards magazine last year - I'm so much better at collecting papers than using them !!!

Christmas in Red and White

 It's probably a good thing that I'm panicking over Christmas and it's only just gone November - normally I start panicking in December.  Of course it's a lot easier to make Christmas cards when the shops are decorated and Christmas music is playing everywhere.  Which is why Christmas Card Challenges such as Festive Friday are so fantastic.  If you're short on inspiration you will come away full of ideas.  Not just from the design team either, there are some super talented card makers out there!!!  Here is the inspiration photo for Festive Friday #43.

Sorry if some of the sentiments are a bit blurred - I think the glossily accented bows and holly upset the automatic focus.

Stamps used were WMS Heirloom Patterns, WMS Vintage Christmas Backgrounder, WMS Mini Pinstripe (for the last present) and WMS Ornate Ornaments (for the sentiment).  Dies used were Sizzix Originals Gift #2 and Sizzix Holiday Lamppost (for the holly) and Spellbinders Classic Ovals for mounting the sentiment.
