For my beautiful dad

Super quick post today as I'm off to Brussels in a few hours for the weekend and won't have a chance to post this until after the deadline for Mojo Monday #462.

This is one of the layouts I'll be doing to celebrate my dad's life.  Julee Tilman has such wonderful sketches and this week's was perfect for the first layout I want to complete before I travel to Australia next month.  This will go to one of my siblings or my mother.  It's not quite finished but just entails sticking the words down.  It's to go in a black Ikea box frame.

Does anyone know of a smile die???

Dies : Verve Beautiful Flowers, Frantic Stamper Bicycle,  WMS Stiched and Scalloped Frames
Stamps : Verve Strong Anchor (perfect for my dad)

Here's a final photo of the finished layout.  I added some Tim Holtz Movers & Shapers Mini Gears to the design (needed something down there and as my dad loved anything mechanical these seemed perfect - 4 small gears for myself and 3 siblings.

Under the Sea

Make My Monday has the following wonderful photo inspiration for this fortnight.

Which is very fortunate because I made a wedding card for a scuba diving enthusiast before I went away on holidays and had forgotten to blog it since I've been back.

The background was created using alcohol inks and overstamped with various shells and starfish - mostly from a Crafty Individuals set, with the exception of the nautilus shell which is one of my oldest stamps.  It's a wood mounted stamp from Stamp World and as I have had it for almost 20 years, I would be surprised if you can still find the company let alone the stamp.  But it is beautifully detailed and still one of my favourites.

The central panel was computer generated and double embossed with clear and a sprinkling of Persian Sea Aurora Cosmic Shimmer embossing powder.  Further embossing with UTEE added to the depth and mixed up the embossing powders giving the appearance of water without obscuring the sentiment.  I've edited out the names of the bride and groom and the date of the wedding in this photo.

Dream Catcher

I have been wanting to make this card for so long now and finally I have a reason and a challenge to push me to do so.  The reason, a friend of mine travels to Tanzania next week to visit an orphanage where I have just sponsored a child and I wanted to send her a card.  The challenge is this dreamy photo inspiration from Verve.

Sunshine Yellow

I was experimenting again with embossing powders and UTEE and made this wee little bird last week. When I saw this week's Muse Anita Bowden I knew how I wanted to use him.

The stitched frame made me remember this Memorybox Sunburst die I bought earlier this year and which sadly hadn't seen the light of day.  It was then just a matter of finding a suitable sentiment which I did in the WMS My Island set.

Spread Your Wings

Couldn't let the weekend go by without another attempt at the Mojo Monday 459 sketch and here it is, using one of my favourite colour combinations and this beautiful Oriental Butterfly from Tattered Lace.

Mojo Mishap

I don't know where my mojo has been this week, I've found it nearly impossible to get motivated.  Today I forced myself to sit down and make a card, and this was the sorry result.

Not my best work and there are definitely some things I would redo given the time again - choose a different patterned paper for one, or use a different central image, but scripture and stylised tartan aren't exactly a match made in heaven!!!  What was I thinking???

I followed this sketch from Mojo Monday 459.  It's contest week over there with Verve stamp sets up for grabs, so you might want to head on over and check it out.
