Comic Relief

I had the idea to create a comic strip to showcase this fabulous Kaboom which I stamped and die cut using the WMS Kaboom die set and matching die. So I drew up some rectangles using the Silhouette Studio software and cut this panel with the Cameo.  I embossed it with black embossing powder for extra wow.  I've used the opening lines from the old Superman television series as the story line and I used Wordart in Word to create the text passages using a fabulous font called SF Comic Strip.

I have to admit the WMS Kaboom and Halftone Backgrounds sets are so much fun to play with that I got a little carried away with the background.  The story finishes more simply inside.  It could be either a Father's Day card or a birthday card for a super dad (such as mine who turns 91 next month).

As I was catching up on some blogs the other day, I came across the CAS-ology Week 148 cue card which is story and I thought I'd enter this card in the challenge there even though that background is a little busy.

Stitched Up

I love the WMS stitched tags die and have probably used them more than any die in my stash.  However there are times when a simple rectangle shape is better and in the last Waltzing Mouse PJ Party I saw a card that made me look at my stitched tags differently.  Anya made this stunning card using a cropped tag.   

And instead of using my guillotine to cut a boring rectangle, it made me think of using the medium stitched tag to carry the sentiment on this card of mine.  

Not only did the sentiment fit perfectly on the tag, but I have an awesome stitched detail along 3 edges.

Twice Blessed

I've been lucky enough to be involved in the early stages of a new group of women who are trying to make a difference.  We're starting a new group of market stall holders and by selling our unique products collectively, we hope to improve the life of others less fortunate than ourselves.  

Our charity - Niche Market - was registered yesterday so we are on our way now.  I'm donating this set of cards as a prize for the raffle on the evening of our first event.

The sentiment is a mix of computer generated and selective stamping from the Waltzing Mouse Country Labels 4 and the labels 4 frame is also from this set.  I tried to continue the country theme with some lovely papers in earthy tones, fabulous chunky buttons, twine and a little faux lace.  

On the inside I used a punched grass border along the bottom.

Nautical but Nice

Squashed Cracker

I have had so much fun playing with the new Waltzing Mouse Kaboom and Half Tones sets but this is the first card I have actually finished.  It looked a lot better before Simon put something on top of it while the glossy accents on the firework was drying.  Never mind, I'll have even more fun making another one, but I don't want to miss the deadline for this month's Waltzing Mouse PJ party so here it is!

Another Surprise !!!

I have been wanting to try this card for ages and with one of the challenges for this month's Waltzing Mouse Pyjama Party being Surprise Him, I couldn't let the opportunity pass by.  

I'm not very happy with the background (and that was before my son put something down on top of it while the glossy accents was still wet), but at least I got the mechanics of the card working.  I can do better next time.

It's a sliding card and as the submarine putts along, the whole message is revealed.  The submarine, the little dude looking through the porthole and the sentiment(s) are from Waltzing Mouse Half Pint Heroes.

This is a slider card which is much simpler and sturdier than a penny slider.  I didn't want the sub to spin - the poor little dude might get seasick.  Basically a thin row of foam mounting runs along that track.  It's attached to the sub on the top and  a piece of card which is smaller than the sub underneath.

Three Darling Tags

I'm just sneaking another card in for this month's Waltzing Mouse PJ party for the Bedtime Sketch Challenge.

These sentiments from the Little Darlings Sentiments sit really well on these little tags from the WMS Folding die set.  I will add little tags later when I have a name, date and weight, but for the moment I've just added little pearls.

Darling Little Card

I've had quite a few demands for baby cards lately, so I ordered the complete baby bundles from Waltzing Mouse and they arrived on Tuesday, just in time for this Waltzing Mouse's May PJ Party.  

This month's PJ party is mostly about the boys, so naturally I had to make up the card in blue and this is for Challenge 1 - Man of the Hour.  The bassinet and bow are from WMS Little Darling Images and were cut with their matching dies.  The sentiment is from WMS Little Darling Sentiments and the wee bootie in the background is from WMS Vintage Baby Shower.

Moustache Card with a Twist

I was talking with my friend Lena the other day and she reminded me she had this Tim Holtz Moustache set.  I just had to borrow it so I could make a card for tonight's Waltzing Mouse PJ Party, because I knew how well it would go with the Waltzing Mouse Stamps set My Kind of Guy.

I know what you're thinking - is that moustache straight?  Well that's because it's possible to twiddle it. There's a category in this month's PJ Party called "Surprise Him", and I thought what's the point in having such an oversized moustache if you can't play with it !!!

There were a few design problems to overcome but this was how I made my twiddling moustache.  Firstly I cut the moustache from black chipboard (this was actually some IKEA packing) and two from normal black card.  I punched a large hole in the middle of the chipboard moustache with my cropodile (large enough for the head of a brad to sit in) and and a small hole in the backing one, which I ended up trimming down.  The last mo was glued onto the top so you couldn't see the hole.

After assembling the Moustache on a brad I liberally coated it twice with versa mark and black embossing powder.  Here is the completed card.
