Irrestible Egg

I was teaching some stamping techniques at my local scapbooking group last weekend and one of the techniques I covered was Emboss Resist.  I stamped this wonderful pebble background onto an egg die cut element and embossed in clear, and distressed in a patchwork fashion.

Another technique I covered was stamping on a solid embossed element.  I embossed a bow with purple (3 times), then white and then purple embossing powders.  While it was still molten, I stamped it with a  rubber script stamp which I had coated with versamark (for protection of the stamp mostly).

Supplies used
Stamps : Sarah Hurley Special Editions Pebbles by Jaine Drake, WMS Compact Sentiments, WMS Fancy Phrases, WMS Zig Zag Backgrounder, Crafty Individual CI-017 French Script
Inks : Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed, Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean Distress Inks, Aqua Colorbox, Versamark
Die cuts : Spellbinders D-Lites Filigree Egg, Spellbinders Fancy Tags, Sizzix Princess Dress (Bow)

Unfortunately I missed the Curtain Call Jelly Bean Challenge (just look at this brilliant inspiration photo)

but I'm entering this in The Challenge's One Year Anniversary

and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge which is anything goes this week

I've been so busy preparing for the workshop last weekend that I almost didn't see Darnell's latest NBUS challenge (I would have kicked myself if I had missed this one).   I'm sneaking this card in there as well - the pebble background stamp was NBUS.

Thanks for stopping by,
Kate

  1. Wow, totally irresistible! Fabulous card, love all the techniques.
I'd love to do stamping with my group but the logistics of letting everyone have a go has stopped me, any tips much appreciated :)

    1. The biggest logistic problem is that not everyone speaks English and my French and German are pretty poor. But we managed - there are enough multilingual people there that language wasn't a problem at all. We have a fairly large hall provided for us which as long as we keep clean afterwards is provided free of charge by our commune. We all have a table each so we can all spread out. I made up kits for everyone which included cards, die cut labels, tags and elements (to save time) and I bought large pots of embossing powders (WOW sell the 160g pots online) and split it into small pots as it was a stamping and embossing workshop. The kit price would have been prohibitive if we had included stamps so we bought some for the group and I brought along a lot of mine. We also bought 2 small distress ink sets (8 inchies in total) for the group and some Versamark ink pads and we encouraged everyone to bring what pads and stamps they had along. It worked well. I prepared information sheets for the work shop which you are welcome to use. I will probably put them up on the blog as soon as I get a chance or I can email them to you. Hope this helps ;)

    2. Thanks, I really want to get my group stamping. They mostly use diecuts & kits to create the most fabulous pieces but they'll try their hand at anything, usually with stunning results. We've just moved to the new community centre & it is fab. We each take a turn demoing & I'd love to get them passionate about stamps, so I had to get your input. All the girls' demos have been brilliant & I'd like to do something special too. Thanks again gr8bri at gmail dot com

    3. With one of the most talented stamp designers on the planet "just up the road" I can see why you'd want to get them into stamping.
